This is why I don’t plan novels. I really want to write my NaNoWriMo novel now, and it’s not November, so I can’t.
On the plus side, I have several story plans that have rattled around in my head for just as long, so I’m not short of something to write. Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought fleetingly about writing a novel.
That’s what encouraged me to sign up for NaNoWriMo many moons ago. I can’t remember how many years ago it was, but I know my triplets were only tiny, so it has to be about 6 or 7. I loved the idea of going Hell for leather into the unknown with only a computer to guide me (which in those days was a second hand iMac I bought on eBay and picked up in Harrogate while taking the kids to see their grandma).
