So, yet again, I was trying to change some settings in the backend and massively fucked up my website.
So, this is just a quick post to explain what happened, and say that things are going to be up and running again soon, but I don’t know how long.
I was changing some backend settings, somehow messed up the .htaccess file or some database setting somewhere, I honestly can’t remember. I do know I shouldn’t try to do too many things at once though, so there’s that.
Where did everything go?
Nowhere. It’s all still there. Just checked my database, and all my old posts are still there in some rudimentary form. In fact, it was a piece of piss to get them back.
Is it fixable?
Absolutely. It’s just going to take a while, especially as I have to re-add all the metadata and link the old media files. It’s just a technical slog.
How long will it take?
I dunno. A month, or maybe two to get everything back to normal. There are a lot of mitigating factors. My kids go back to school this week, and I have university starting again soon. I have a couple of books I need to read before my course starts, and I want to make a start on taking notes on the course book. And there’s the pandemic think going on still … that’s been a fun one. Remember how I said the kids go back to school this week? It will have been five-and-a-half months since they last went to school. Except for Mike. He had a couple of days before the summer holidays.
Not much. Will update when I can.
